Qinna (Joint Locking)

In Chinese, Qin means to catch and na means to control. In Tai Chi we practice lots of joint locking but we emphasize on not breaking the joint. The reason for this is very practical. We don’t want to hurt our Kung Fu brothers and sisters! By practicing without injury, we are able to practice very often, doing each technique thousands of times. This ensures accuracy and skill. Please enjoy this video of Sifu demonstrating Tai Chi qinna and throwing. Click the subtitles button if you have trouble understanding him.

Safety First!

One of the secrets of Tai Chi is learning how to practice safely. When you practice safely without injury, you can practice every day all day, which allows you to develop an extremely high level of skill. Enjoy this video of Sifu and me practicing freely. Sifu has been kicking my butt for over 5 years and have never hurt me!
